KUALA LUMPUR, JAN 18-
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department YB Senator P. Waytha Moorthy has promised to assist 13 families of a village in Kedah, which are living without water and electricity over the last 10-years.

The Minister, in charge of National Unity and Social Well-Being, said he had sent his officers to obtain a clearer picture of the issue affecting families residing at Kampung Sungai Getah, in Sungai Lalang Bedong, Kedah.

"We have been made to understand that water and electricity to the village was cut due to a land dispute.

"I will be visiting the village soon to try solve this problem, which has been viralled in the social media over the last 24-hours, quickly so that affected families can lead a life on par with the nation's development," he said.

The villagers want water and electricity to their houses and the land dispute solved by the authorities.

They also claim that action by some unscrupulous parties has led to their current predicament and demand that action be taken against these people.

They had also met several politicians in the past to solve the problem, which had been besieging them since 2008, but no action has been taken to resolve the matter.

They hope that the new Pakatan Harapan government will assist them in solving the issue once and for all.
